Weeks 75-76-77 April 3 - April 21, 2023 "The Completion  of our Ghana Kumasi Mission" Our mission secretary, Sister Garrison, has created in  each transfer an arrival and departure sheet..and it is a little strange to see our picture on this sheet. The young misssionaries on this paper have left at the beginning of this transfer on April 4 and we are leaving mid transfer.  We have many mixed emotions: we are ready to go back home: to be reunited with our family and friends, to move into our new home and much more...( to get one or two dogs....) It will be hard leaving the mission behind and the friends we have made. We realized we have spend 3 years of the last 5 years together with the Kunz's: first as  senior missionaries/neighbors in Sierra Leone, and now, serving under their leadership in the Ghana Kumasi Mission.  We are very grateful for the example they have set in their selfless service. The Kunz's are here for 3 years, and their dedication to our young miss

Week 73-74 March 20 - April 2, 2023 "Continue To Work Till The End" We encountered this beautiful lady on our Sunday walk, she did not speak English, we do not speak Twi, however I think we exchanged greetings and love. I have said it before, the Ghanaian women are strong and beautiful! And oh, ....I am in trouble....the period for this post is almost over and I am just starting to write...the problem is that I might have forgotten what we did in the first week...For us, these are the more quiet weeks of the 6 week transfer: the zone conferences are done, so after cleaning up our supplies for that, it is fairly quiet . Our volume for medical calls has been lower also in these last weeks, knock on wood and say a prayer,  as it can change very quickly! However, our area medical advisor, ( an American physician located in Accra) made the comment we had always the most interesting issues with our missionaries....I am not sure if I want to take that as a compliment..:) A shout o

Week 71-72 The Beginning of "The Last Times" March 6 - March 19, 2023 I just loved seeing these two missionaries together at one of the zone conferences: Elder Rawson and Elder Twum. Two opposites : Elder Rawson fairly new in the mission, Elder Twum going home in a couple of weeks. They are from opposite sides of the world, one is white and tall, the other is black and not so tall. As elder Rawson said about his companion: "He might not be tall in stature, but he is very big in Spirit. What an experience for these young people, to work together, adapt to one another and do great work in the name of Jesus Christ. This post will have some "last time" descriptions. We drove to Tamale for Zone Conference and this was the last time..The drive was uneventful as we drove up on Tuesday, which followed National Independence Day celebration, and we learned that many businesses, schools etc would have an extra day off. We didn't mind as the trafffic was relatively l

Week 69-70 February 20 - March 5, 2023 The Lord's work keeps moving forward! We encountered this beautiful lady on our Monday morning walk, she was ready to go places. In her beautiful bright dress and head wear, make up on . The women are beautiful here, and they can wear colors and fabric that look so good on them. I love seeing the traditional style and fabrics, so much better then when they wear "western clothing.   No comment needed....one hardworking ( or hardly working) police officer doing his duty in traffic patrol...( We just learned about not being judgemental...he could very well have been on duty during the night, and was taking a little rest.)We waited patiently for the light to turn green before we made our right hand turn at this intersection...lets just say we have had too many interactions in the last months with traffic officers... Another month has passed...where does the time go? The first week was busy: We had 2 missionary companions up north with malaria

Week 67-68 February 5-19, 2023 Temple Blessings                                                                                                     Accra Temple Again,  we are in the last 2 weeks of a transfer, and it is very strange to realize that we have only about 1 1/2 transfer left in this mission....I am honest, I am counting down; I am looking forward to see our children and grandchildren again, and to move into our new home. I am not sure if I have mentioned this; but we did buy a house at the end of last year! With help of one of our sons and his wife, and very good friends, who checked and toured several houses out on our behalf. This house checked of many boxes: close to one of our sons and his family, a nice neighborhood, close by the Murdock walking/bicycle trail, all necessities on the main floor, it is ready to move in, lots of windows and light and recently updated and as bonus there is a neighborhood swimming pool and a pickle ball/tennis court! We sold our last hom

Week 65-66 Zone Conference Weeks January 23 - February 5, 2023 These boys are from the Dunkwah-On-Offin Branch, from the Obuasi District. They came to Elder Moomey, asking if the thing he had in his ear was connected to his phone (Blue Tooth). He explained it was his hearing aid. The next question was how old he was...almost 7 times your age! Such cute boys, the little one up front said he was 11 years..he looked 7-8 years old to me! In the first week, we had the three zone conferences in Kumasi. Busy and long days: come home, eat something, take a shower and to bed. The afternoons get warm, and I have a lot of "glowing" going on. We had some great instructions by President Kunz on Meaningful Prayer. I reviewed Prayer in the Bible Dictionary, and one part that stood out was the explanation about "alignment". I am not in charge, I can not change the Lord's will or alter His Plan in or through my prayers, however, I need to align my will to His. We were taught by

Week 63-64 January 9 - January 22, 2023 Missionaries Going and Coming! Just look at these cute little boys! They are brothers, and live in a little house/lean to  along the walking route of  Sister Garrison and I. The top picture is Jared: with his toy of a tire and a stick. The bottom picture is Joel. They always call out a greeting to us. These little boys don't have a lot in material ways, but they always very happy! During this period, we had 9 missionaries departing upon completion of their missions and we had 16 arriving. In the new missionary group we had several Tongan missionaries and one missionary from the Phillipines. It is as always exciting to see new missionaries coming in, ready to go and work. Towards the end off the day of arrival, they are tired. Most of them woke up early at the MTC. As early as 2-3 am due to room mates leaving for  other African missions very early. Then the excitement of finally arriving in their mission, paperwork again, interviews with the
